Accept "american football" for "football", please.

Unfortunately as a true American, to keep the spirt of my quiz I cant do that, because no America would.

I was coming to make the same comment. As an Australian, "football" for me could be soccer, Australian rules, rugby league, rugby union, or American football. We never just call any of these games simply "football".

When American football didn't work, I gave up and decided it must be a totally different sport that I didn't know about.

I understand your sentiment, but I think it would be acceptable, on a site used by people from other countries, to allow American football as a type-in.
