If I had to guess, I’d say all (or most) parks in Australia are classified as national parks? In Brazil, for example, we have national, state, and even municipal parks. The Ilha Grande State Park is one of the most important in the country for tourism, and the federal government has no involvement in it since it is fully administered by the state government of Rio de Janeiro. I’m sure the US is similar, and I believe most large countries have some kind of equivalent division.
