Guess the 1960s song lyrics #232

*First line is the artist name. 1968. This song describes a dance. The artist recorded it with his band "the Drells" in Houston, Texas. This was one of the earliest funk hits and hit #1 on the pop and R&B charts. Soon after recording the song, the artist was drafted into the Army and sent to Vietnam. The song sold over a million copies.
