Sole
These prehistoric fish have existed for over 120 million years, and are the largest fish native to Chesapeake Bay. They have a long and sleek body with bony plates.
Sturgeon
Their name comes from their long and pointed bill that resembles a particular weapon. They lose all of their teeth and scales by adulthood.
Swordfish
One of these killed Steve Irwin by piercing its barb into his heart, causing him to bleed to death.
Stingray
It is the most venomous fish in the world. As an ambush predator, they boast a spiky body that allows them to camouflage in the ocean floor.
Stonefish
Native to the western Atlantic Ocean, this fish is known for its white body with black stripes over it.
Spadefish
They are small crustaceans with an elongated and semi-transparent body. They can be cooked into tempura.
Shrimp
These invertebrates lack a brain and are nocturnal, and they have a vegetable in their name.
Sea Cucumber
A female mythological figure that lures sailors to their demise with a song.
Siren
Sharing their name with a mammal, these fish are known for the fact that the males give birth.

Spookfish
You can find these birds near the seashore, being recognizable by their white feathers and yellow beak.
Seagull
When smoked, these fishes from the North Pacific Ocean become a staple of New York appetizing stores.
Sablefish
These urchins have a flower pattern in their center, and they (or their skeletons) can be found along the beach.
Sand Dollar
They are known for shooting ink as a defense mechanism, as well as having eight arms and two tentacles.
Squid
A common way of cooking these fish is by pan-frying them until they turn golden brown.
Smelt
They are small, silvery fish that are known for being great bait for bass.
Shiner
Also called macroalgae, these aquatic plants are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
Seaweed
This shark is located near Alaskan and Russian waters, and has a sluggish nature. They can glide through the water with little body movement.
Sleeper Shark
They are reddish pink but have silvery bellies. Their name is related to the long snouts they have.
Snipefish
This fish is known for having been used in an experiment that contributed to the study of parallel evolution.

They are covered in armored spines around their head, with pectoral fins large enough to look like wings.
