This covers the timeframe from September 9th, 1976, to November 9th, 1989. This encompasses Hua Guofeng's brief tenure as Paramount Leader (1976-1978) to when Deng Xiaoping resigned as Party Chairman of the Central Military Commission
Note: Vice Premiers were sidelined mainly for being beneficiaries of the Cultural Revolution. Three of the ones on this list had no real political experience and were model workers or those with Proletarian backgrounds
Note: In 1980, many elderly Party members resigned from their positions voluntarily. However, this did not decrease their influence in the Party
