Armenian is closer to French than Georgian? I'm not doubting you, but how?

Armenian is an Indo-European language, so is French, Georgian is not. The same way Spanish is more closely related to Hindi than to Basque.

wow, really tricky but so interesting to see the answers! i thought i could potentially get a few just by guessing whatever was the most unintuitive, but you've got a good mix of seemingly impossible ones and more believable ones to keep us on our toes. nominated!

Amazing quiz! Would never have guessed the connection between Malagasy and Tagalog. Really makes you think.

I got lucky by remembering both Hungarian and Finnish were Uralic though :p

Thanks! The first one of my favorite language families, it came from Taiwan but is now spoken in Madagascar and Hawai'i.
