Biggest Cities of New Netherland in 1664 With a Map
With the help of a map, can you name every settlement in New Netherland that had a population of at least 100 inhabitants in 1664, right before the English conquest?
Some of these cities may no longer exist, or are neighborhoods within current cities (*wink* *wink*).
Hint: think of cities in the Netherlands!

Edit: After further research, Pavonia has been removed from this list. In 1629, a patroon was expected to establish a settlement of 50 families within the next four years (Pavonia). This goal was not met. In 1643, the settlement was massacred, with at least 80 Native Amercians killed. In 1655, a Lenape woman was shot and killed for picking a peach out of a Dutch settler's garden. In retaliation, five hundred Lenape attacked and killed 50 Dutch settlers. It seems quite clear that by 1664, Pavonia likely did not have a population of or in excess of 100 inhabitants.
Additional note: I was too blind to notice, but the population of 725 is for Beverwijck, Schenectady and Rensselaerswijck combined. Assuming 550 people in Rensselaerswijck and 135 and Beverwijck, that would put Schenectady's population somewhere around forty inhabitants.
