Typo in the first question, it says terrtory instead of territory, but still an excellent quiz!

I googled the inspiration for the Opera House and it came back with bird wings, not sail boats.

Post the original source for the claim.

I found these, but most other sites indeed just say sails so I think it's fine

And here I am just wondering what this quiz's source for that question is...

The sources I can find claim Utzon was inspired by several things in nature, including bird wings. One of those sources is this video on the official YouTube channel of the Sydney Opera House:

The original inspiration was actually oranges.

I changed the wrong answers to things that are very obviously wrong so that there won't be confusion.

The Wikipedia article makes many references to sails but none to birds or oranges or anything else.

Yes, the Wikipedia page calls those architectural elements sails because they look like sails. That is of exactly zero relevance to the question as it is currently phrased, though, and I think it would be hard to find a source more authoritative than the video posted in this thread.

The company that built it calls them 'the sails' if that helps https://www.arup.com/projects/designing-the-sydney-opera-house/.

Wow, I actually got 2/10. I've little to no knowledge about Sydney but I knew it's existence and location. Got 1 and 9 correct. Nice quiz.

The original inspiration for the Sydney Opera House design was orange peels.

Jun 11, 2025
No it isn't. It makes way more sense for sailboats to be the inspiration.

The 714 to Sydney was one of Tintin’s stranger, although charming, adventures.

It's been a while since I read it, but didn't he actually make the flight and then it was hijacked by Rastapopoulos's crew?
+2

No, I'm pretty sure that he boarded a billionaire's private flight (I forgot his name) and that flight got hijacked by Rastapopulos.

Haha this was my first ever Tintin to read! (Kind of a weird one to start on)

Tintin boards billionaire Laszlo Carreidas’ jet to Sydney, but almost all the crew is working for Rastapopulous (who is on an island), so they hijack it and take it to a volcanic island to steal Carreidas’ money

My fav is The Calculus Affair!

Mine is personally Tintin and the Picaros, I looove the goofiness the the guerilla squad when they were drunk in that scene where Alcaraz (I hope I am right there) think they were getting attacked by Tapioca (a peak name btw)

I think a definitive answer for the Sydney Opera house question is not possible so I think it would be appropriate to find a different question. Almost all sources cite that it was natural curves and not anything definite. That they happened to look like sails was just how things turned out. Just like Cassian Andor turned out to look like late 60s/early 70s Paul McCartney. I doubt anyone at Disney/Lucas said lets make the hero of our story look like a left handed bassist but low and behold they made the exact match.

There are multiple rivers in Sydney, not just one as the question suggests. Perhaps a rephrasing to ask What is the name of the main river that flows into Sydney Harbour?
+1

I got the question wrong but it’s self explanatory. London had tons of other rivers but you only hear the Thames.

Had no idea on most questions, barely got 5/10 with educated guesses. "Bondi beach" was the only Australian beach, I heard of, but I didn't know it belongs to Sydney. Thought, it is somewhere up north on the east coast.
