Guess the Country from the 2-Liner

Can you guess these 15 countries from the 2-liner couplets? (Sorry if the facts aren't entirely accurate, or if the couplets don't have exact syllables. Not much of a poet, but try to enjoy it nonetheless.) Let me know in the comments if you have any trouble understanding how the 2-liners' answer is the way it is.

A small little country that doesn't get to play. Entirely engulfed by the South A.

The Jewish part of a heated nation. Hated by many, no need for an explanation.

Isn't a country, according to the Chinese. To them, on a dog, just some pesky fleas.
Taiwan
Two Asian nations, the big and this midge. Despite the sea, united by a cultural bridge.
Sri Lanka
Owned a third of the world in the past. Scotland, Ireland, it was bound to fall fast.
United Kingdom
Smallest in the world, half a K of land. Population is slightly more - at only a grand.
Vatican City
Recently independent, newest in fact. 2011, and unsuprisingly attacked.
South Sudan
Developed a building - tenth of Everest. Could be trillionaires - hiding them, they're the cleverest.
