Imagine that football clubs, like countries, adopted an official flag, which was full of symbolism and other representation. I have designed flags for sixteen clubs from across the world. See if you can guess the club from the flag!
Took me a bit longer to work out a couple of the answers but I got them eventually by thinking more about the colours used.
I like the subtleties such as the circle/ring with 20 sides to represent the 20 championships won by one of the teams, along with the stars to denote their three major continental titles.
And the inclusion of the flags of Qatar and Russia was amusing!
I'm honestly impressed that you even noticed the icosagon (20-sided shape) reference!
Funnily enough, someone on the French version of this quiz suggested that the Russian flags should be American flags - for anyone else that isn't sure, they're not to denote Chelsea's current ownership, but rather the fact that they won their two Champions Leagues (hence why there are two balls) and, let's face it, everything else since 2003, because of Roman Abramovich's ownership.
It depends on what you mean by "should". You're right in saying that the OM motto is Droit au but, which is French. However, for this quiz, I used the Occitan version (as per the Occitan language Wikipedia page), because that's the historical language of the city/region. It was purely to add another subtlety (as Hinckford so neatly put it) to the flag.
P.S. I'm fluent in French, so it's not something I would have done by mistake 😉
Hey, I noticed you called the club OM, but OM I don't think worked when I last took the quiz. Maybe that was intentional, but I thought I'd bring it up if not
No, it's a fair comment - the only reason I didn't bother including it is that "OM" isn't really used in English; we just say "Marseille". I only said it out of a personal habit 😄
Okay, thanks. I'm used to calling it OM but more so from reading / hearing in other languages, so it's possible no one says OM out loud in English as you said.
Sorry for my pickiness, but Occitan was not really the historical language of Marseille. Actually, they usually spoke Provençal, which is an Occitan dialect. If an inhabitant of Marseille and one of Toulouse were having a conversation in the Middle-Age, they would have trouble to understand each others :)
I am the farthest thing from being particularly knowledgeable in football, so this is seriously a question not a criticism: is there some reason why "FC Barcelona" isn't accepted but "Barcelona" is?
I was always under the impression that "FC Barcelona" was the team's name? No?
the bull is the official logo of Torino Calcio, the other Turin based football team (reason: the Torino team is often called "Toro" for brevity, which also means "bull" in Italian).
The possibility of Juventus FC ever using a bull on its potential flag is zero.
The leaf in question is oak. It’s on the Fenerbahçe badge. According to Wikipedia: “The oak leaf which rises from the navy and yellow section shows the force and the power of being a member of Fenerbahçe. The green colour of the leaf shows that the success of Fenerbahçe is imperative.”
It’s still there to represent the legacy of winning two Champions Leagues thanks to his ownership. Try as he might, that’s something Todd can never undo
I have some issues with this quiz. I don't get why Celtic have an Irish flag, they're a Scottish team. I get the Celts were both Irish and Scottish, but there's no reason to put an Irish flag when the team itself is Scottish.
I also get why the last one represents Fenerbahce , but the stripes themselves remind me of Boca Juniors more than anything. I just feel like it could be made more specific, but I get why it represents Fenerbahce more than Boca.

Good concept though.
I was always under the impression that "FC Barcelona" was the team's name? No?
So how did 77% of people get it correct?
I just tried copy and pasting manchesterunited and it worked

May I present to you the logo history of Juventus

It's not too late to delete your comment either
Just a question, though: what is that leaf on the f....e flag? Tried my best not to give any spoilers and yet get an answer from you :)

And the Fenerbahçe flag is a virtual mirror image of the central part of their logo.
I expect you no longer have any issues with the quiz 👍🏽
