Zaire is in there too but now it's called the democratic republic of the Congo, so I guess that doesn't matter.

The letters have to be adjacent to each other. That's why Slovakia and Slovenia don't work.

Just think of drawing a line from one letter to the next (horizontal, vertical or diagonally )

I first tried to solve in like a word search, which was impossible, re-read the instructions, and then tried to only use orthogonal connections. I only realized my mistake in the last 30 seconds.

Almost-correct answers are really distracting. I kept seeing Turkistan - the cross between Turkiye and Turkmenistan. Didn't kept that MENI was present elsewhere.
