Well, that would require permission from California, Idaho, and Oregon. Right-wingers are already lusting for Greater Idaho, and the Appalachian Annexation into WV. Very unlikely, I always tell people the Founders knew what they were doing, and we don't need to change the boundaries anymore. If one area does it then others will feel emboldened until there is no more USA. But I heard Bougainville may gain independence next year. It is a smaller island off of mainland PNG.
I don't mean to stir up a political feud with anyone, I am just highlighting who wants what to happen. Wish everything would be less politicized. Our Founding Fathers would be embarrassed at our division over little things. I hope you understand.
I did hear about the possibility of Quebec possibly leaving Canada. The support for it seems to be waning but still there are discussions for it. Also some discussions about Texas's succession even when not legally possible. It seems like the most likely state to succeed if any were to succeed. Likely won't succeed but probably the most discussed when the topic arises. There are also discussions for Scotland leaving the United Kingdom. It seems more likely than Texas leaving the U.S. and Quebec leaving Canada
The second-coming of William McKinley seems to want Greenland, Alberta, Venezuela, and Iran. Jokes aside, the Alberta thing is semi-serious, but also has 0% chance of passing, whether they chose to become a US state or be a country of their own. Texas, while an option, which Rick Perry floated under Obama, is not as hyped. Even under Biden there wasn't much secessionist motivation, so I haven't considered that one.
