Evil aliens have decided to kill everyone on Earth! Fortunately, they've given you two minutes to save as many as you can. All you have to do is name a country to save everyone in it.
In some sence yes, in some, no. I do not like new zealands current flag its basic and unoriginal like 90% of british pasific countries, including my home australia (I dont like its flag either). The preposed new zealand flag is so much better, the current one sucks.
I echo the comment above - just ugly flags for the most part. Too busy, bad design or just clashing colors/symbols in many cases. Canada's current flag is a prime example of a simple striking design being superior to a more complicated one. Of course, we may just be so used to the current flags that any deviation/alternate design looks strange.
Some of the other proposed flags of these nations are much better. For example, Canada had a three-headed maple leaf flag proposed in the 60s with blue banners on either side instead of red. A bit jarring, and worse than the flag we ended up getting, but way better than this 1939 mess haha.
I guess, most of these flags wouldn't seem strange to us, if we knew them for all our lives instead of the real ones. Anyway, I like some of the newer attempts. We are all used to classic tricolor flags. I wonder, how the "flags of the world" quiz would change, if not all of central and western Africa would be red-yellow-green ;-)
I saw the star and crescent, so I was thinking about Islamic countries and Malaysia was the second to come to my mind. It wasn't until after that I realized the similarity.
The Belgian and New Zealand proposals are much better than the current flags. The Australian suggestion is good too, however it looks like a scout's insignia.
Bolivian here. The flag in the corner is the Wiphala, a flag that's supposed to represent the indigenous/andinean people, so I guess they suggested to incorporate it into the national flag. Hell no, the flag is good as it is now, it includes and represents all of us, there is no need to change it.
I like the proposed flags for Estonia and New Zealand better than their current ones. I get the symbolism of Canada bringing British (Union Jack) and French (Fleur de lis) settlements together under one Canada (Maple Leaf), but it looks awful. ;)
I thought the proposed Malaysian flag was for Cyprus. It looks like a combination of Turkish and Greek flags, which are the two main ethnicities of Cypriots.
The colors of the Estonian flag are very particular, easy to remember, more for the average JetPunk user. Also, the country is close to the countries that use the nordic cross, so it's pretty intuitive.
Taiwan's looks terrible. The minor outlying islands are disgusting little splotches. The shape is asymmetrical and off-center. It sucks. Their current flag is great and has a long heritage.
Dekkie, this is one of the dopest quizzes ever. If there was a Best Quiz award, this quiz should win it. 10/10 quiz.
You get to see some goofy ass flags AND you get to do a quiz at the same time? And there's juuuust enough info to know what country they're all from. Well done sir or ma'am.
According to the designer of the ZX Spectrum proposal for Belgium, the current flag reminds the viewer of the old Francophony. I'd be willing to wager it doesn't.
Gonna be honest... Pakistan might be the most heinous. Even if its not as busy as the other flags, the colors with the British flag slapped on the corner is just so awful to look at
I'm not a fan of this Australian flag. I think both the green and the yellow are pretty ugly shades that don't go well together. I also think the kangaroo is kind of stupid tbh
The Brazilian, American, and French flags look fine, they're pretty much the same. The Canadian one looks like it should be a city flag for Ottawa and it would look great as that. I like the Estonian and Malaysian ones and the Belgian one is surprisingly good, it looks like a cross between a highly abstract modern design and a medieval design while keeping the recognizable flag intact and not too loud. Everything else is terrible except maybe the Spanish one, the white in the Bolivian one looks especially awful like the flag is incomplete. If it was a different color or if the right side tricolor was expanded to fill in the space, I'd say it was cool.
Reccomended flags usually aren't that good because of the low quality MS Paint feeling, the bad colors, and the nonsense the these flags might portay. There are also some good ones like the New Zealand one and the Belgium one.
Flags with the outline of the country lack confidence. They say, we aren't important enough for anyone to know what our country looks like on a map, so here, this is what we look like. Myanmar even circled the country, to make absolutely sure no one would get confused. It also says they don't think their culture is worthy of being displayed on a flag.
the flag of new zealand is way better than what it is now (side eying the union jack in the corner and also because i always confuse it with the australian flag)
That one for Taiwan tricked me im not very familiar with shapes of countries just flags but so if I had more knowledge it would have helped but dang how was i supposed to know that was taiwan
The Estonian proposal is nice, though, and it fits nicely with the pattern of the Nordic countries

It's a good quiz
That should be their real flag

but I suppose Australia and nz are improvements
It's impossible to draw, difficult to produce, unnoticeable from a distance, and not particularly beautiful on a close-up.
