I think there are only two official languages at national level in India but in total 22 scheduled languages (some of which are officially recognised in individual states but not the nation as a whole)
That's a tough question, there's definitely plenty of countries with more widely-spoken languages but they may or may not count as official (for instance, I tried PNG like five times before trying to actually think of somewhere else)
South Africa isn't #2 but tied #1 with Italy for countries inside its territory. 2 in South Africa (Eswatini and Lesotho) and 2 in Italy (Vatican and San Marino - Monaco is inside France though it's only a few kilometers from Italian border).
After Madagascar, obvs. Yes, I'm surprised it's not on the list. I suppose it depends what authority you're using. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_length_of_coastline it has either the longest or second-longest coastline on the continent itself.
I'm a little confused about the oceans bordering question. I'm assuming that, as far as this quiz is concerned, South Africa borders the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. What about the Southern Ocean though? I'm not sure whether South Africa technically borders it, but if it does, none of the answers given have more, and if it doesn't, Australia should be accepted.
Neither South Africa nor Australia border the Southern Ocean. It is generally considered to be bounded by the Antarctic Circle, the 60th parallel south, the southern circulation, or the Antarctic Convergence, but some definitions are a bit looser. None of the mainstream definitions, and very few other definitions consider the Southern Ocean to border the mainland of any continent besides Antarctica, and those only border Chile and Argentina. So you could make a case that Chile borders three oceans, but I am pretty sure that those definitions also mean that Chile does not border the Atlantic Ocean. And besides, these very loose definitions are rare and not commonly accepted.
I'm confused as to how Australia doesn't border the same number of oceans as South Africa? Either it's 3 and South Africa does qualify for bordering the Southern Ocean in which case so does Australia or it's 2 and they're still both there.
I don't see the issue. The quiz is countries that beat South Africa, not those that tie with them. (And HinesBrothers has said above that neither are counted for the Southern Ocean.)
I surely can’t be the only one that thought png would beat South Africa on the language question but i guess alive languages aren’t the same as official languages
"Country containing the largest urban area whose name starts with J"
I definitely read this as it looking for a country that starts with a J and not an urban area that starts with a J. Was very confused when Japan didn't populate.
Eswatini also borders Mozambique
Though Monaco only borders France, Monaco is on the Mediterranean Sea, making it not count
