What letter in gnu is silent? And I think the clue for subtle is too difficult. There's millions of words with silent letters that fit that description.

The 'G' in gnu is silent. It's pronounced 'new'. And I agree with the clue for subtle. I'll think of a replacement.

I was counting the seven deadly sins to myself and couldn't think of one with a silent letter. When I saw the answer was not anger, I felt great wrath at myself.

Was about to write "nickers", then something dawned on me (does "dawn" have a silent letter too?)...
