Train Game: Closest City with a Higher Population (USA) #1

In this Train Game, we will start with a city that is a bit lesser known, and then have to find the closest city that has a higher population than it. Then, when we find that result, we must do the same thing with that city, and so on. For example, if the given city is Wake Forest, NC, the closest city with a higher population is Raleigh, NC. The closest to Raleigh is Charlotte, NC. Next is Jacksonville, FL, then Philadelphia, PA, and then finally New York City, NY. Since this is U.S. based, we will only be listing U.S. cities. If a city in another country is closer, we will skip it and find the next closest city.
Populations are of City Proper
Distances are measured from city hall to city hall

Yes, I was also quite surprised that we started in Michigan, yet went all the way down to Texas before Chicago became the next closest city. There were a few close ones though! Omaha is just BARELY closer to Minneapolis than Milwaukee is, which definitely influenced the whole heading-south trend of that grouping. Also, I was quite surprised how many cities had a higher population than Minneapolis to begin with!
