Might want to clarify that this does not include countries that are one away but can be reached through another country (e.g., Russia through Mongolia).

Just because russia borders lithuania and poland, that never makes the two countries two borders away from china (as they are both bordering a piece of land separated from the mainland russia). You need to cross at least 3 borders to reach either of them.

I believe that the quiz maker intends for one country to be one border in this sense.
