From then to WWWF, WWF and on to WWE, the World Championship, no matter which initials came before it, has persevered to this day. WWE did have a 24/7 Championship, but it had its own, fully intact design. The Brawl-For-All was a tournament and the prize trophy was an over-sized pair of golden gloves. One of the early ECW World title designs from the ECW original days was similar to the 'Winged Eagle', but was fully intact, as were later versions both in the original ECW and in WWE's iteration.

Inoki refused to claim the title, it was vacated, and Backlund won the vacant belt in a match with Bobby Duncum Sr. WWE does not recognize these events, and Backlund's reign from this time is considered uninterrerupted.
