Message Board Recap - March 2025

Welcome to the seventh edition of "Message Board Recap"! Here's some (hopefully) interesting stats about the Message Board for the month of March 2025. This will be similar in format to MasterRocket's September 2024 blog (which I'm treating as the first edition), but not exactly the same.

- A total of 123 threads were made during the month of March 2025, giving an average of 3.97 threads per day.

- The day with the most threads was March 12, with 9 threads.

- The days with the fewest threads were March 4, 17, 22, 29 and 30, with one thread each. Every single day in March 2025 saw at least one thread made.

- A total of 50 unique users made at least one thread throughout the month, giving an average of 2.46 threads per user.

- Throughout the month, one user (Syrext) made 33 threads (!), two users made 8 threads each, one user (toowise) made 6 threads,  two users made 4 threads each, and 44 made three or fewer threads each.

The top 6 thread creators made 63 threads in total, or 51.2% of all March 2025 threads.

- All threads in March 2025 were liked 772 times in total, giving an average of 24.9 likes per day, 6.28 likes per thread, and 15.4 likes per unique user.

- The day with the most likes was March 26, with 83 likes.

- The day with the most likes per thread was also March 26, with 83 likes and 5 threads, averaging 16.6 likes per thread.

The top 6 like-getters received 495 likes in total, or 64.1% of all March 2025 likes.

Now let's look at the top 10 most-liked Message Board threads (all thread titles are exactly as they appear):

- All threads in March 2025 received 320 comments in total, giving an average of 10.3 comments per day, 2.60 comments per thread, and 6.4 comments per unique user.

- The day with the most comments was March 13, with 39 comments.

- The day with the most comments per thread was March 2, with 14 comments and 2 threads, averaging 7 comments per thread.

The top 6 comment-getters received 174 comments in total, or 54.4% of all MB comments in March 2025.

Now let's look at the top 10 most commented threads (all thread titles are exactly as they appear):

Here's some other fun facts and stats that I think might be interesting.

The correct way to spell "JetPunk" is to either capitalize both the J and the P, or to capitalize neither. Here's a breakdown of how people did in thread titles:

✅ Both the J and the P were capitalized on 2 occasions;

❌ On another 1 occasion, the J was capitalized, but not the P.

Overall, "JetPunk" was correctly spelled on 2 out of 3 occasions, for a score of 67/100.

It seems that there's always someone who can't get this simple spelling right for some reason.

Here's a look into whether thread titles ended with a punctuation mark, and which ones:

- 24 threads (19.5%) ended in a question mark "?";

- 3 threads (2.4%) ended in a period / full stop ".";

- 2 threads (1.6%) ended in a right parenthesis ")";

- 12 threads (9.8%) ended in an exclamation mark "!";

- 82 threads (66.7%) did not end in a punctuation mark.

1. Length of Thread Titles

Have you noticed that some threads have much longer titles than others? Here's a look into the length of thread titles:

- All MB thread titles in March 2025 contained 3,343 characters in total (including spaces), for an average of 27.2 chars per title.

- The thread with the longest title was "Is viewing stats for wrong answers in Sudden Death not possible?" by Weeknd, with 64 chars in its title.

- The thread with the shortest title was "Hunter." by imadingus, with only 7 chars in its title.

2. Capitalization of Thread Titles

Even though they're technically "titles", not everyone on the MB adheres to Title Case in their thread titles. Here's a breakdown:

- 122 threads (99.2%) adhered to Sentence case by starting with a capital letter.

- Approximately 74 threads (60.2%) adhered to Title Case. Note that this is an "approximate" figure since there are slight variations in the exact rules of Title Case.
