Has Blogging Gone Too Serious?

Introduction
Every day I lurk the blog page, waiting for something interesting to pop up, yet there seems to be less than 1 blog posted a day. I remember just a few years ago there was around 3-5 every day. I bet there are others, unwilling to post something but wanting to interact. Or maybe it's just me. Don't get me wrong, some of the blogs now have insane amounts of information and effort put into them, but still they get few likes and few comments.
The Problem
What's strange is, back when blogs were at their peak, the format was really simple, and much more difficult to perfect. There wasn't all these structured paragraphs and headings. My criticism of the new blog format is although it is technically better, it actually seems really imposing to me and not that beginner-friendly. That, however, is just my personal opinion. I do understand that using raw HTML isn't reader friendly, but maybe they could rework or resimplify the more modern blogging format they have now.
Really, I also feel the site is trying to be something it's not. JetPunk blogs are never going to pull in users searching on the internet, so why does it need to be so professional, the blogs so perfect? Quizmakers should be able to interact and have fun, to some extent. To give credit to the moderators and creators of this site, they are very lenient and I definitely have deserved to get banned more than a few times. This is more of a culture problem.
Maybe the root of it is just that people were getting shot down so much for not having good blogs that all of the commenters got scared off from blogs and then the good bloggers didn't want to blog anymore.
The Solution
We should create more stupid blogs again. Blogs like this. Yeah, I wrote this in under an hour. Share your ideas and experiences, maybe with completely unrelated and real world stuff. If it becomes a problem then it'll need to be improved again. But honestly anything's better than the current dead state of JetPunk blogs.
Another important thing is to interact with other people's blogs, because that just supports the cycle as a whole.
Thank you for listening to my rambling session.
:)
But personally I don't like creating mediocre content, everything I create that can be shared with the world has to be perfect lol, even if the blog section is emptier I'd rather choose quality over quantity. But yes, more blogs would be nice
The newer system makes it way easier to write blogs, although I do know some HTML, I usually have to look it up to make sure it's right first.
I try to make my blogs informative with some humour thrown in, I don't know if it works, you'll have to ask the readers. I try my best to put in the effort to make my blogs a reasonable quality, again you'll have to ask my readers.
As to the amount of blogs being made, I think there is a number of factors. Summertime is always quieter, and the incident with the message board saw some users that also wrote blogs being banished. I think there is a general consensus to make better quality blogs rather than throw-away quickly made blogs. I'm not referring to this current blog by the way, I think you have raised a valid question and discussion.
Anyway, check out my blogs...sorry, this isn't the time or place.
I never used the old blogging system. However, I love the current format and tools, and find it very easy to navigate (disregarding mobile). I feel like beginners would also find it easy. I was a beginner using this same format about a year ago, and found it pretty straightforward, asking a few questions here and there.
Agreeing with Insaniot, I would like to see higher quality blogs every once in a while rather than 5 trashy blogs every day. Blogging is an art hidden on JetPunk which only a small number of true Punkers actually spend time on. I like the community here, and think that, once summer is over and all the kids come back, that blogging will pick up once again. JetPunk always has dry spells during the summer, which makes the art of blogging that much better imo.
This is all coming from a modern-era blogger. I try to keep the section full and happy with unique ideas and such. Reading blogs daily doesn't need to be an outlet from the real world. That would only make blogs less exciting, causing the art to die off even quicker. Higher quality blogs are what I enjoy the most, because I know the user spent time and thought making it. That's the kind of blog I want to read, not a quick little chat message. We had a Message Board for that kind of stuff, so I understand where the urge comes from. I relate. But this special section of JetPunk should be cherished, not damaged like what once was the Message Board. I think we all learned that day.
I like to blog about think pieces, but over my time here, I've seen historical stuff, geography stuff, daily stories, etc. I don't know. I think it's always been semi-serious, but I guess I can see the necessity for some more laid-back stuff.
BLOGS ARE AN ART, NOT 4-CHAN
