Great blog! I wouldnt count the states as leaving since the union considered them as states in rebelliokn rather than being in a seperate country. and they were never formally readmitted other than reconstruction

First of all, thanks for your kind comments. Now, as for the states that left in the civil war, despite not recognised by the United States as independent, as you pointed out, they were still de facto sovereign from the US government, as they pleaded their allegiance to the confederacy, defecting from the USA. So that's why I decreased the states for the duration of the civil war

bruh why did i say great blog i meant great chart

if you remove the states, they should be readded when reconstuction ended in each, and removed when each seceded.

however the date of state hood for those states is never thought to be in the late 1800s, and none had to rejoin the union like how they joined the first time.
