If you are using a logarithmic scale you shouldn't include zero as it would appear infinitely far below the graph.

If the population had kept growing at the rate experienced during the 19th century, the population of England would now be over 148 million.

Also, note that even after the initial incidence of the plague, the population continued to fall for another 100 years. What a miserable time to be alive.

Probably because of the hundred years war. I wonder what are the statistics for France at the time.

Not sure, but I would guess that it was further outbreaks of plague. The hundred years war was mostly fought in France so I'd imagine it wouldn't have had a huge impact in England. But I would need to do more research to know for sure.

I think it may be because of a similar effect to what we are seeing in Russia currently where the children, then grandchildren, then great-grandchildren and now great-great-grandchildren of the fallen men of WWII aren't being born because of the missing generation not having kids/being too young and then going sent to the battlefied where they died

It was a combination of the plague recurrence as QM said and the end of the medieval warm period. Climate change and recurring pandemics. Good job we're safe from that now eh?
