Introduction
Hello, Jeppers. I've been planning this for a little bit, so let's just get this started. This blog will assume you have played these quizzes, so spoilers and answers revealed and stuff. For those new to tier lists, I will be ranking all my quizzes from F Tier (the worst) to S Tier (the best), based on how creative, how much effort, and most importantly, how fun it is. Now, these quizzes are ranked in comparison to each other. Even the best can't top a Dimby quiz, for example. As an additional thing, I'll share some developer commentary sometimes. Since there are 78, I won't talk that much, just giving the main idea. Also, this is my first blog, so I hope I don't mess something up. This is meant to be a silly, lighthearted blog with errors, sidenotes, weird jokes, terrible writing, and the like. Be ready to go off topic a LOT. So, with that out of the way, let's get this started.
F Tier
Yeah, yeah, worst of the worst. These generally are quizzes that I find are either inaccurate, have terrible theming, have so much wasted potential, or are just plain boring. (Should I delete these?) Without further ado...
78. Uniquely American... Or Not?
The details on this are so incredibly vague that I don't even know where to begin. I'm not even entirely sure that it is even correct! It's based on a few articles and stuff, which aren't exactly known for being the most correct. It's the first "8'er" quiz in the list, a set of 6 quizzes that I made on 8 April, so that's why it was so low quality. Probably the only one that is completely unsalvageable.
77. Six Degrees of Separation - Random
I don't even know how this is my 5th most played quiz, and I apologize to the 61 (and counting) people who've played this. I may be overreacting, but this is just personal bias. The connections just seem incredibly vague and hard to follow. Plus, there are only 10 different categories, so after 2 and a half plays (what is half a play?) you've seen it all. Would've been in D Tier if there was at least 20.
76. Fragile States Index Indicators
The type-ins are horrid. The premise is boring. The quiz is too short. A few too many things to talk about leave this thing here. Also, I need to keep the character count down, so a short paragraph you get.
75. The Mesopotamians – We Might Be Giants
The only thing you do is name 4 leaders from ancient Mesopotamia, based off a song by WMBG. Way too short to be a proper quiz. Who has actually heard this song? I only remember it from 6th grade.
74. The Wingdings Quiz
All you have to do is type the correct letter to the wingdings character. That's if. Sure, it's Randomized, but what does that add? You can just type letter, backspace, type next letter. Or number. I was going to add symbols, but I thought that was a little too cruel.
73. Country Deciphering
Shows off different types of ciphers, I guess. If you don't already know all of these, you're not surviving. Binary was a bit mean that day. There would have been more, but putting those into a text just doesn't work.
72. The JetPunk Hot 100
Shockingly, naming the top 100 JetPunk creators isn't fun when you can only remember 5 by name. No, I didn't intentionally steal from Rocket (I found out after the fact), but accidental plagiarism is still plagiarism.
71. JetPunk Quiz Types
The title says it all. Also a bit outdated due to "Click Map" being changed to "Map Quiz". No, I'm not updating this. Even if I do save this, it's still very basic and bland.
70. The Invasion Song Lyrics
The Invasion Song by Histeria! is all about invasions (shocking, I know), but unlike the Mesopotamians quiz, you can actually deduce what the answer is, so it gets some bonus points for that. Still, it's an ugly format.
[Funny Number]. A Quiz About JetPunk
This is probably the quiz with the most missed potential. Only 10 questions? Really? There is a lot more about JetPunk than that! Additionally, the ones that are picked aren't even that interesting...
68. Multiple Choice City Quiz – Hagåtña
For those not on the JPD, I live in Guam. So getting my own subdivision's capital a bad, uninspired quiz that it doesn't need is pretty bad. Wikipedia doesn't exactly have a lot of info on this. Another one claimed by the deep end, I suppose.
67. Eliminate the Letters – Click Quiz
Okay, I said in the caveats that a professional annoyance was hired, but even I'm getting annoyed at these terrible descriptions of letters. How is anyone supposed to know 4 L's make a square? This is our 2nd 8'er to appear, folks.
D Tier
Now, we move on from hating... to less hating. Shocking, I know. These quizzes are less bad and have fewer downsides, but still far from "good". Well, there ain't much to say. Shortest tier of the lot.
66. Price Change - Higher or Lower
Based off one graph I found. Didn't even cross-check with other sources to actually verify this. At least the theming gives enough points to boost it over to D Tier.
65. Essential Elements – Sudden Death
Remind me again what "essential" is? This is honestly a little too vague, but the idea is enough for people to understand. The sudden death probably wasn't a good idea. (Oh, my good ol' friend Tile Select!)
64. Country Etymology Click Quiz
Honestly not too bad of an idea. The thing that really ruins it is that my brain decided to make it a click quiz instead of a multiple choice. Not exactly the best idea. Also is just pretty bland.
63. Arab Spring Countries - Sudden Death
Like most things in the universe, defining which countries were a part of the Arab Spring is a bit vague. Do minor protests count? Where is the end of the Arab World?
62. Word Pronunciation Quiz - International Phonetic Alphabet
Non-American players, I'm sorry. Anyway, turns out people don't remember what all the IPA symbols mean! Yeah, totally expected.
61. Finish the Impossible Questions
What defines an "impossible question" anyway? Well, that isn't a problem for this quiz, but it's worth answering. Besides that, a few questions might have a little too much room for interpretation.
60. Transcontinental Countries - Extreme
Not sure what the "Extreme" part of this is, but the quiz is incredibly lopsided towards countries with colonies or offshore islands. Putting the continents is also a bit ugly.
59. Commonwealth of Nations Countries by Size
Overall executed great, but the idea is really weird. Why the Commonwealth? I haven't a clue to that answer either. At least the quiz is actually good. The qualoty difference between this and the last few is quite big. We're starting to get to the quizzes that I don't think are bad.
58. Commonly Confused Words
What more is there to say? Multiple choice, pick which applies to the sentence, done. The example sentences themselves are a bit (how many times am I going to say "a bit"?) weird, but it's fine. The take/bring question was evil, I must admit.
57. Banned Books by Plot
Why banned books instead of any other books? Idk. It's a little lopsided, and I haven't read all of the books (just a snippet from Wikipedia), so some might be a little inaccurate.
C Tier
Since I'm so mid, most of my quizzes land in this tier. At least that balances everything, I guess. There isn't a lot to talk about since these are boring. Eh, let's get to the point.
56. Objects That Are Novels
What is an "object" exactly? Also, this suffers from the ever so coveted "vagueness!" I found these from GoodReads, so these aren't the most accurate thing (or at least I think so?) I can't check if these are novels. At least it gets creativity (and funniness) points. Are Canada, 2666, and the Plague objects?
55. Native English Words – Sudden Death
Ah, yes. What counts as a native English word again? It's not as egregious as some OTHER quizzes, so it gets the edge over that. 3rd 8'er. Gotta catch 'em all!
54. JG Wentworth Viking Opera Commercial Lyrics
Uh, quite the interesting quiz I must say. That thing was stuck in my head. This quiz was made before I learned how to copy the same answer box multiple times so words actually give you multiple points depending on how many times it appears. Would've been better if it was once per word tho.
53. Countries by Subregion - All Countries
52. Countries by Subregion
These 2 are tied because they are the same good premise, with a completely whack execution. Match the country to what subregion it's in. Sure, but the fact that these are a click quiz makes it really annoying to do. This is the quizzes I'm least sure where to place, as they could legitimately be any tier with the argument that it's a really good idea to a really horrible execution. All countries is lower for being a sequel and forcing you to suffer for longer.
51. I Wish I Was in Dixie Lyrics
Same premise as the JG Wentworth one, but I actually knew about repeat answer boxes this time. Not really that much to say about this one. Union version sometime?
50. Good Pizza, Great Pizza Toppings
Do you like mobile games? Well, you've probably played this one (wait, you haven't? It's just me? Okay...) Maybe spoilers for the game, idk. I'm slowly running out of ideas for what to say about the non-special quizzes.
49. Shortest Path by Borders #4
The first Shortest Path by Borders! (No, I don't mean chronologically... I mean list. Or maybe?) I'll call 'em SPBs. The lowest of the lot, because going from the Gambia to Malawi just isn't interesting.
48.Shortest Path by Borders #3
SPB 3 is a rather weird one compared to the others, going from *checks notes* Morocco to South Korea??? Not the weirdest one ever, but pretty high up there. Funny points brings it above #4.
47. At the Same Time
Not sure what's with that title, it's actually about if a certain thing existed during that time. (Guessing if 2 things were at the same time would have been a good quiz idea though...) This is a "serviceable" (?) quiz, but not by a long shot. Creativity? It's an 8'er, so no.
46. 1984 Terminology
I genuinely do not know what to say here. It's just that boring. The only reason it has "terminology" in the title is because (SPOILERS *GASP*) newspeak was an answer.
45. Boy or Girl Name – Think Fast!
First version of this, I screwed up by putting "Louis" as a girl's name. My bad, was thinking Lois from Family Guy. I am somehow in the limbo of 1 second per guess (in a click quiz, mind you) is both too strict and too lenient. The fact that this is an 8'er also might ruin the gap that is bad and good 8'ers.
44. -Ology or -Onomy
Sure? These middle quizzes are hard to say anything about. It's not even an 8'er so I can't even waste sentences talking about it! Umm... ecology and economy anyone?
43. Shortest Path by Borders #1
Ah, the OG SPB. Too many acronyms for ya? At least this one has a more reasonable path – South Africa to Portugal ain't half bad.
42. Countries That Kinda Look Like Guns
Wow, what an original idea. Why did I make an svg for this? I genuinely can't think of why this popped into my head. On second thought, Mexico doesn't really look like one. Jordan and Guatemala are pretty convincing nonetheless. Does anyone know how to rotate things not 90 degrees?
41. Name the Nickname
Stage name would have been a better title. George Orwell is the odd one out (dun dun) for not being a celebrity or youtuber, but I digress. I'm seriously running out of content that I'm making content out of it.
40. Shortest Path by Borders #5
An SPB, but with a split path! *gasp* I know, I know. At least it tries to be different.
39. Chess Variants - Sudden Death
Ah, my first quiz to actually get a good (?) number of takes. 40 isn't that much, but when you're just starting, it feels good. No clue what those caveats mean, however. This is also the last quiz in the bottom half of the list. The upper percentile we come!
38. Shakespeare's Plays Deaths – Multiple Choice
The one that got a spotlight for some reason??? Thank you to whoever did that, but why this one? It's okay, I guess. It definitely has a more "vanilla" feel as a quiz some other big quizmaker would do.
B Tier
The 9th input of the Konami code, we're at B! ↓ Tier anyone? Hopefully those get some love. With that... unique intro out of the way, let's get into it.
37. Why is it Famous?
Don't ask about the capitalization standards, I don't have any. It's a... quiz. Sure? At least I didn't make the etymology mistake again and made this one a multiple choice instead of click. Paris was a weird one.
36. Multiple Choice City Quiz – Panama City
A pretty basic MCCQ all things considered. The sister city question is a filler question because I rolled a 1 for creativity. I think I was definitely yapping too much with those questions. If only I had that now...
35. The 1800s – Sudden Death
Sure, sure. Just click all the ones that happened in the 1800s. Plain and simple as that. Overflow happens, I guess. At least a little creative.
34. Objects in the Blur
No rules! This suffers from the "vagueness" of what an object is, but less so. I think the books are a bit obvious, though. While making that, somehow there just wasn't a balance and it was either too easy or almost impossible.
33. Wikimedia Projects - Sudden Death
No consistency on whether to use - or –. Wikinew was pretty evil, ngl. For those unaware, Wikinews also exists. Surprisingly, Wikihow isn't a Wikimedia thing. Alright, let's just move on to the next one before we get Wikiinvaded.
32. Shortest Path by Borders #2
The last SPB, who could forget. Also the only one to escape C Tier. It has the definitely exciting route from Canada to Papua New Guinea. What a blast! Too bad Kaliningrad ruins it.
31. Most & Least Linguistically Diverse Countries
Ah, yes. My very first quiz. The fact it still holds up against 47 other quizzes is... not the best thing to see. At least this one is creative, based off a LingoLizard video. It's a pretty good first quiz.
30. Multiple Choice City Quiz – Anchorage
Funny points, creativity, yada yada. An average MCCQ for once. A little more creative liberty than expected.
29. Countries That Have Lasted 100 Years – Sudden Death
What do you expect? It's a pretty solid (albeit basic) sudden death quiz. A few questionable ones, but they have enough certainty to fit into a solid category. Wait for the Indus River Valley Civilization to come back in the next update! Been a while since the last 8'er.
28. 1984... or 1984?
Inspired a LOT by overtired's "McEnroe... or Mac 'n' Cheese?" quiz, especially the post-game explanation. This is a little different though, and I think is an original quiz (at least I haven't seen anyone else do it). PEPSI COMMERCIAL!!!
27. Name a Valid Answer - Board Games
Short, but it gets the job done. This was before I heard of KamSandwich, so I didn't know that many popular board games. I think (?) I got most of the good ones though (quick time! Is the Ouija Board a board game?). The Sorry question could be rephrased better.
26. Name a Valid Capital Beginning with A–Z
I definitely feel like someone has done this before, but I cannot for the life of me find out, so I shall claim it. It has that "vanilla" quiz feeling, with the right amount of challenge.
25. Click the Borders, Not the Country
That title could use some reworking. It's my first (and only) click quiz, where you have to click the bordering countries instead of the actual country. Took a bit of logistical planning (and annoyingly making every other country fail).
A Tier
The top 24... if you perfectionists wanted 25, then I'm sorry.
24. Animation vs. Minecraft Shorts – Sudden Death
An... interesting choice for a quiz, I know. Maybe worth dropping into B, but it's barely hanging on due to good fakeouts.
23. States With a Portland – Sudden Death
Self-explanatory. I am mixed on whether adding sudden death to a title on every sudden death quiz is repetitive or not that bad.
22. City Population - City Proper, Urban, or Metro Area
That's a long title. Anyway, pretty simple. The London question was a nifty fun fact, I guess.
21. Multiple Choice City Quiz – Brisbane
My first MCCQ, and the only one to escape B Tier. With ACTUAL, NOT BAD QUESTIONS FOR ONCE! Yippee! The fact this is my best MCCQ speaks volumes about quality control over here.
20. Countries with Compulsory Voting
An early quiz, with an interesting idea. Splitting the countries by whether they enforce it or not instead of continents was a good choice on my end. Some countries are unexpected.
19. Give the Category
Maybe deserves lower due to being completely ripped off nichster's "What Do These Two Countries Have In Common?", but it's a pretty good quiz with creativity aspects.'
18. Which Soviet Socialist Republic?
A simple click quiz with each SSR getting its time to shine in the limelight. Not much to say here, not much to improve.
17. Moons – Sudden Death
A nice, easy, vanilla quiz. Surprised how a quiz like this can make it this high. Minimalism ftw!
16. Branches by Subject
A quiz where you have to match each branch to the bigger subject. Social Studies might be a little vague, but I think the caveat fixes that. The only thing holding this back is how janky click quizzes can be.
15. Wakko's America Lyrics Quiz With a Map
Based off Vicky's "Yakko's World Lyrics Quiz With a Map", but the other song. Nothing special, just seeing how good you are at remembering it.
14. There, Their, They're – Click Quiz
Sidenote: it took me this long to realize a faster method to copy and paste instead of typing the quiz names themselves. Anyway, based off Dimby's "To, Two, Too – Click Quiz" (god, I need original ideas). Similar story as that quiz.
13. The JetPunk Quiz Matrix
Finally, an original quiz! Just attach each question to the quiz it was originally from! Hard carried by the sheer principle, as the questions themselves aren't that stellar. I wanted to do comments instead, but someone already did that.
12. JetPunk Jeopardy
My first SVG quiz, with somewhat good questions. If this was just a basic text quiz, it would have been in C Tier, but the SVG isn't bad, so it gets put up. I wanted to be extra and add a yellow box, but then I would have to sacrifice the points mechanic, so it was scrapped.
11. Capitals of the Territories
The most heartbreaking one of the lot. I wanted to put this in S, but then it would ruin the top 10 thing, so it was sadly moved down here. At least the premise is a little overused, so it is somewhat justified. Sorry, CotT.
S Tier
We finally made it, the top 10. To add a little more suspense, more space will be in-between each quiz. Well, let's begin.
(Honorable Mention). Random Country Trivia
Before we begin the top 10 proper, let's start off with a quiz that was never released, but it would be somewhere in S Tier. This quiz was back in the early days of my quizmaking, but I gave up on it after a few countries because info was pretty scarce. Quick, how much do you actually know about Antigua and Barbuda? Yeah. I didn't want to steal from the Country Quizzes, so that was off the table. This one is postponed indefinitely, but one day it might come.
10. Territories of the World Quiz
Now, we have our first actual quiz in the top 10. Now, you might be saying "Woah, woah. Back it up. This has been overused quite a bit, why is this here?" Well, I just... like the design. The design somehow looks cluttered and neat at the same time, with the necessary info on the sides to really help you out. I really like the colors and underlines, too. This was originally going to have an SVG (when I learned how to do it), but I found another quiz that did exactly that, so I saved my energy.
9. Countries That Border... Something? – Randomized!
A chance at a randomized quiz, with the right amount of insanity. You have to name something that borders (or bordered) the one mentioned. With 45 questions, it has better randomization than most other we've seen. Maybe a few are a tiny bit vague, but with a little trial and error, nothing can go wrong!
8. Definitions Multiple Choice - Random
Remember what I said about the last one having a lot of randomization? Well, try 100 questions! This quiz was designed to be hard, with ancient, rare, and underused words galore! The definitions were very creative on my end, so props to past me. Pretty good fakeouts.
7. Wikipedia Article... or Album Cover?
Yeah, some albums have really weird names. They even sound like something you'd search up! So, why not make a quiz out of it? Good luck differentiating between Chinese Democracy and Democracy in China! One is a wiki article, one is an album. Go on, take your pick. Seriously, who thought of naming an album that? Perfect amount of questions, too. 20 is pretty solid.
6. US Citizenship Test - Full Version
A while back, Quizmaster decided to make "U.S. Citizenship Test Questions", but only put 24 answers in. So what did I do? Make the full version, obviously! I don't know how anyone hasn't done that (or how I haven't found one), as it seems like a quick and easy idea. One of the questions in the test was "There were 13 original states. Name three." So what did I do? Write 27,029 characters in the RegEx, of course! No, not by hand, thankfully. Just copy, paste, replace. This is my most played quiz (currently) that didn't get help from a spotlight.
Now, the top 5.
5. Category Elimination - Territories #2
4. Category Elimination - Territories
These 2 are ranked together because they are the same idea. The 2nd is slightly more creative, but the 1st is more original so it gets the edge. It's your standard category elimination, but with territories! I wanted to do the style of the original Category Elimination, so good luck remembering all those territory capitals!
3. The World Map Spot the Difference
Let's take the world map, and make it worse! Want to see cursed Japan? You bet! My most unique SVG quiz yet, with some subtle or not so subtle changes. Why does Australia look a little too west? Is that other country different? Maybe! A certain change was a little too hidden, some may say. That's the beauty of a Spot the Difference!
2. A JetPunk Quiz
Wait, what? My only tile select quiz? And it got 2nd??? Yep. Somehow, a tile select quiz got here. Inspired by something that isn't from JetPunk for once! Based on A Minecraft Parkour Map, each screen makes you select every country, but something's off... A twist happens every screen, with certain ones being extremely easy, and some nearly impossible legitimately. With 30 screens, screen 29 is the boss battle after the easy peons. A worthy challenge to whoever wishes to take it on. Good luck.
But this isn't my best quiz. No. We still have one more to go, and it is my masterpiece.
1. Countries by International Organizations in 30 Seconds
The 2nd quiz to get a spotlight, and this one is more deserving of it. It is technically my first SVG quiz, but being just the COTW SVG, I don't count it as such. You have to name the acronym for the organization, and all the member countries are filled in. With a ton of research being pulled into this, I want to give this the number 1 spot. Unfortunately, I made it before learning how the nomination process works so you can't nominate it, but the spotlight at least was worth it.
Conclusion
Well, that was a long one. This turned out less than what I was expecting, but it seems good enough. I am usually a good writer, but I guess it doesn't apply to blogs? Whatever, it's fine. This blog was heavily inspired by youtuber Odyssey Central, so thanks to him. For the future (however far away that is) blog tier list, this gets a lower B Tier from me. A little too much and too little at the same time. Okay, after 24K characters, that is all I have to say. Signing off from SP3, have a good day (or night) to you all.
I am not joking when I say this, I had an idea to do this for my own quizzes, may I still go through with it?
Maybe I'll make a quiz ranking sometime
1. Tile Select - 2
2. Map Quiz #2 - 25
3. Picture - 34
4. Multiple Choice - 36.47
5. Sudden Death - 39.9
6. Click - 41.12
7. Text - 41.85
