Lot of luck on that one! Nice diversity in questions!
On another topic, I really like the comment section on JetPunk, and the fact that we can discuss through the years. But with the daily challenges, once the day is over, the comment section is nearly dead, and we might miss some interesting discussions. So as we are approaching the first anniversary of the daily challenges, I suggest to have a link for each quiz of that day (for example on 1st of December 2027, we will be invited to take again quizzes from 12/01/24, 12/01/25, 12/01/26 and so on. Thus, we can discover again what have been said.
I am not sure if I am clear as it is not my mother tongue.
Anyway, thanks for all the job that is being done on JetPunk! It is still a great pleasure to come after so many years!
Well I am catching up on the quizzes and not really chronologically (from like 6 different starting points, sometimes going backwards sometimes forward). So I am reading all the messages out of order. And writing with the odd feeling that basically noone will see my messages ( apart from a few lost souls who are like me trying to catch up)
So hi from the future, and hello to those of the future that also happened to end up here *waves*
I was positive it’d be a musician since there are quite a few categories they can win. Looked it up and Williams has been nominated for 54 Oscars. He’s somehow only won 5. 🤷🏻
Spielberg too is an interesting case, only won 2 best director (schindler's list, saving private Ryan) and 1 best movie (schindler's list) despite racking up bangers and nominations
9/10. Missed the last question. Heard the Oscar question on the radio recently so I knew the answer. Total guess on binary number. Picked the correct one but only got 900 points.
Nooo, once again my 10/10 streak breaks on the 7th day 😭 And not for the first time, it was a binary question that got me. Annoyingly I actually tried learning how binary works a week or so ago, but apparently it didn't take, because that was a blind guess 😂
Other than that, not too many complaints. 9/10, albeit I slowed down a fair bit in the second half
Yeah I couldn't rule any of them out either haha, after refreshing my memory it seems the answers listed here are 4, 5, 6, and 7, but I'll probably have forgotten that by the time the next binary question comes around 😂
Nice score on the remainder though, little bit sharper than me today!
5/10 and one of my worst scores (4,926). I accidentally clicked the wrong answer on the first question, which made me pause and then I was distracted for the rest of the quiz. (Though there were a few I legitimately did not know and guessed wrong.) Ah well.
After getting tripped up by the typo in question 6 I got flustered and missed three in a row. Not that I have any idea about binary, though; that was a random guess.
8/10, I guessed #3 and got it right. Got #7 and #8 wrong, but I really liked today's trivia because I felt that I actually knew this stuff instead of having to guess a bunch of them.
The only country in North America that does not border the Atlantic Ocean is Mexico.
Explanation: Both Canada and the United States have coastlines on the Atlantic Ocean, while Mexico is situated solely on the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.
Technically Mexico and El Salvador both do not border the Atlantic, however Mexico is closer to the Atlantic, but still the primary body of water is the Gulf of Mexico
The AI is misleading you here I'm afraid, if you search for "Gulf of Mexico" you'll find the following: "The Gulf of Mexico is an ocean basin and a marginal sea of the Atlantic Ocean"
I've also had that AI tell me that 15.5% of the world's population speaks Afrikaans (search for "what percentage of the world speaks afrikaans?"). That AI overview is not at all reliable and I wish there was a way to remove it from my search results (someone plz tell me if there is a way).
Omg it does the same for me, that's wild, especially considering right underneath it says it's spoken by only 14% of South Africans, which would be below what it says is the global average XD
On the bright side, with AI being this incompetent, I think my job should be safe for a good while yet lmao
Loool this keeps reminding me of a paper I edited recently where the authors mentioned something called the "East Vietnam Sea" which I'd never heard of, and it turns out that's just what Vietnam calls the South China Sea 😂
Also the AI's explanation and answer don't match: "Technically Mexico and El Salvador both do not border the Atlantic..." and "The only country in North America that does not border the Atlantic Ocean is Mexico. Did the AI forget about El Salvador?
Edit: nearly clicked B initially aswell, another another of those split second decisions where I decide to change the plans.. maybe I should stop doing that (in quizzes, in real live I could use a bit more spontaneity (god that one is impossible to spell)

1, 10, 11, 100, 101, 110, 111, 1000…
That’s 1-8. That also means all powers of 2 are going to be a leading 1 followed by some number of zeroes.
2=10, 4=100, 8=1000, 16=10000.

Down with AI!!!!
