Agree, even for questions that were a guess, it was an educated guess... like which actor played Napoleon.

Was doing so well until I got to the questions that were not about Napoleon Bonaparte but other people called Napoleon. Flunked all of those. 7/10.

Actually, Napoleon being short is a common misconception.

He was average or slightly above average height for the time.

It may have started as an English insult. I believe he was about 5' 7" no?
+6
Level 42
Jul 16, 2025
He was around 1m70 so that would translate to 5'7'' yeah

I think there are several reasons, such as mistakes when using old French units to measure him, the fact that he was often surrounded by very tall guards, and yes, English insulting him.

8/10 missed the Rosetta Stone and Moscow although I knew war and peace was set in the Napoleonic war, so with a little more thought I should have got it.

8/10. I almost said Holy Roman Empire, but then I didn't because it seemed to big for Napoleon to take down. And had no idea who played him in the movie.

Interestingly, Napoleon wasn't actually that short. At the time, France used slightly different measurements for inches, so French inches were actually longer than those used in Britain. That meant that Napoleon, under French measurements, was fewer inches in height than he would have been had he been measured in Britain, giving rise to the misconception that he was a wee man.

Also, dix sur dix aujourd'hui - fantastique!

Another bit of Napoleonic trivia. During the Napoleonic Wars, a French ship was wrecked off the coast of the English town of Hartlepool (in the northeast). The sole survivor was the ship's monkey, which was dressed in a small French military uniform. The locals, in a fit of anti-French fervour, tried the monkey for espionage and had it hanged as a French spy.

To this day, the residents of Hartlepool are still sometimes known as 'monkey hangers'.

9/10, history/geography always going to be a strong suit, but alas it's always the pop culture question that trips me up. Tbh I should count myself lucky I knew one pop culture question (4), as I know the answers to about 5% of those. I only knew it because at school my year had to sing it for a school concert once. Question 8 I had only heard of 2 of the people and thought Cumberbatch was a nature documentarian while Chalamet was an actor.

The movie was bad.

The weird thing is that if they had just done a straight biopic of Napoleon's life it would have done really well in the theaters. The backers of the movie seemed to understand this. In the previews, they implied that the movie was all about Napoleon kicking butt on the battlefield.

And then you watch the movie, and it's mostly about Napoleon's love life. It seems determined to portray him as some sort of sniveling loser in the mode of the worst English propaganda from the era.

It was just a completely unnecessary movie all around. They could have done so much with that budget!
