Haha... I live in Alabama now, and we had to take Alabama history and write reports on famous people from Alabama. I still only got 8/15....

not a complaint, but sometimes an iconic first name or nickname gets the answer. I thought "Bo" would have done it - especially given the clue. I think qm is a bigger fan of basketball than of baseball or football and maybe more of those are added?

I tried "Bo" too, just because of what the clue is.

Paul Bryant is not from Alabama, but from Arkansas.

Yea, no way Bryant should be on the this list. As far as I know never was in the state of Alabama until he went to college there. Definitely better answers are out there.

Bear Bryant is a legend in Alabama though, and he is most associated with being one of the best coaches the Crimson Tide ever had.

Maybe a bit niche but Alabama makes me think of Destin Sandlin from Smarter Every Day; the guy does have 10M subscribers though so maybe counts as famous?

I was hoping to see a question about Tallulah Bankhead, but I supposed she's fairly obscure outside Huntsville, AL.

She was more famous as a stage actress. Also, she's been dead for more than 50 years. She had quite an interesting life, so if you have a few minutes, I'd recommend looking her up.

The Alabama kid who grew up with Harper Lee on the same rural town street and by many estimations actually wrote To Kill A Mockingbird was Truman Capote.

Wow, Zelda met a tragic end. It's now believed she suffered from bipolar disorder but was misdiagnosed as schizophrenic.

"... she endured over ten years of electroshock therapy and insulin shock treatments, and she suffered from severe memory loss. In March 1948, while sedated and locked in a room on the fifth floor of Highland Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, she died in a fire. Her body was identified by her dental records and one of her slippers".

I know an annoying, nippy little dog named Zelda. She is just as whacky as F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife.
