UK Towns that Applied for City Status in 2022

As part of Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee in 2022, city status was awarded to eight towns across the UK and its dependencies / overseas territories. Can you name all 39 towns or places that submitted a bid to be made a city?
Light blue background = a unitary authority, not a town. Pink background = a council area, not a town.
The eight successful bids are highlighted in gold.
Towns are ordered by their 2021 populations (according to citypopulation.de). Ceremonial counties are included to help with the English towns.
Excluding Southend-on-Sea, which was separately made a city in 2022 in honour of its murdered MP Sir David Amess.
