I was a projectionist in a local theater in the '90s, had the same thought. Unfortunately that means that I saw Titanic around 30 times in a row and I never want to see it again.
A lot of great movies with all different types, tastes, subject matters, genres, etc. 30 years apparently makes a great difference, given the dreck that is produced nowadays. Thanks for a great quiz.
I'm amazed now that it's not the least guessed. Not even the second least! I thought that had sunk without a trace. I remember seeing it at the time but haven't even thought of it since.
Hmmm... I've seen every movie on this quiz except Matilda and The Parent Trap. As a dude who was in college when those came out, I was probably a little too old to have been interested in going to a theater to see them or renting them on VHS, lol.
Can anyone think of a year outside of 1939 that had a better collection of movies than 1994? Also kind of wild that the big 4 of 1939 also match up pretty well with the big 4 of 1994. Epic Southern story that wraps itself in the history of the times (Gone with the Wind and Forrest Gump). Children's classic based on a much darker source (Wizard of Oz and Lion King). Feel good movie about the triumph of the human soul over institutional corruption (Mr Smith Goes to Washington and Shawshank Redemption). Legendary director making the near perfect film of a genre that was often sneered at (Stagecoach with westerns and Pulp Fiction with exploitation films)
Plus this decade is one of the best :)
