Initially I was willing to overlook Samoa but not anymore. Samoa and Libya both have 3 syllables. Su-Mo-Uh and Li-Bee-Uh.

Nauru has 3 syllables according to Dictionary.com [nah-oo-roo]. But, I will say, I also thought it was pronounced [nah-roo] until I looked it up!

I’m voting with Cape-Ver-De, especially since Cabo Verde has even more syllables, and if I ordered enchiladas verds (not verdes) at a restaurant the waiter would talk about me in the kitchen, calling me the rube at table 13. Again.

Hm... Laos also appears on all the ONE-syllable quizzes on jetpunk. Who's right? ;-)

Sticking to our beliefs, Laos has two syllables.

Laos shouldn't be here, as it's pronounced 'ow' with an 'l' on the front by Jetpunk conventions. Ireland is 'eye-ur-lind' and if you're including nicknames, Holland ought to be here as well. And Israel has been 'is-rail' every time I've heard it.

Whew! Tricky quiz. So many countries that could go either way. Much fodder for complaint. Good luck. ;-)

You don't need the "nickname" caveat cause Myanmar is two syllables anyway.
