Also the mild winters you guys get helps a lot to maintain an average higher temperature. If it doesn't get too far below 0°C then the average won't get dragged down too much. For example I'm from Lethbridge and it gets up to the mid 30s in summer, but in winter it gets down to the -20s to -30s and this brings down the average a lot!
