Countries with Names that are "The" Something
What countries usually start with the definite article "the"? For example, I am going to go to the (country)."
Not including countries with shorter names (The People's Republic of China=China)
Not including outdated names like the Ukraine, the Sudan, or the Ivory Coast
Officially, "The" appears at the beginning of only two of these (capitalized).

If I'm honest, only 2 of these truly have 'the' in their name. The others aren't commonly used with the word 'the'.

Maybe "the" is not in their official name, but for all of these countries you can say "Let's visit the ______" and it would sound wrong if you left out the "the". Possibly exception is Gambia, but even it's Wikipedia page is titled "The Gambia".

Interesting aside, I heard that Gambia added the "The" to distinguish itself from Zambia.

Interesting. We do say "The Vatican" but not really "The Vatican City".

So, it isn't mention in the quiz, because it's officially called "Vatican City" without "the". Did I get this right? But we sometimes call it "the Vatican".

What about El Salvador? It's ont of the only ones that people almost always use the "the" part when saying, although it is in spanish.

Yes, though sometimes the "state" is singular, as in "Kingdom" or "Republic".
