Super fun! It doesn't handle duplicate cities very well, though. You can put the pin right on Charleston, WV and be barely within the circle to get minimum points for Charleston, SC (as an example)
I only knew of the Peoria in Illinois, so when I dragged the pin there and it didn't take, I wasn't sure what to do. I eventually ended up just dragging it all over the map randomly until I eventually got close enough that it was accepted.
My first thought was that it might be nice to indicate that it is, e.g. "Peoria, AZ" to differentiate it from "Peoria, IL." Although I totally understand why you would not want to do this. I'm not sure what a good solution is, though.
Although perhaps your take is just: "That's no different from you not knowing where a city is at all, and what you did is what I expect people to do." i.e.: "Yup. Working as intended."
If that's the case, then: fair! Just felt strange to me. At first I thought I'd done something to break the quiz.
Oh. This is a weird case. My rule was to always use the most populous city. The problem here is that Peoria Arizona is more populous but is far less known because it’s a suburb of Phoenix. Hmmm. I might change it to Illinois when I get a chance.
And yes, I did decide to never put the state since it kinda defeats the purpose of the quiz. I probably should have avoided either Peoria since they’re somewhat similar in size.
yes, on my first attempt I spent a good 3 mins putting my pin down in Peoria then just moving it around. I refreshed the quiz because I thought it was frozen
So, can you update Peoria? Because While Arizona may be more popular, it is far less known. If you Google "Peoria" it defaults to Illinois, and the one in Arizona is just a suburb of Phoenix, which is itself a huge city. Or if you don't want to make it Illinois, I suggest removing it all together to avoid confusion.
This honestly might be my favorite quiz I’ve ever taken. My only critique is that Fayetteville, AR has a bigger urban area than Fayetteville, NC, but it doesn’t overlap, so you can figure it out.
Amazing quiz! Didn't fully grasp the scoring or how to read the result table, but now I get it. So far, 55 is the best I've done. Gonna re-take a few more times.
No, it defeats the purpose of the quiz. There is one Buffalo with a population over 250,000 and the next closest is about 15,000. It’s obvious which one this quiz is asking for.
Question - in the explanation, do you mean you'll get "four" points for a bullseye? I think there's a spelling error, but I'm not sure if I'm just misreading the sentence.
Nice score. Thanks, but I don’t know about “best”. Let’s not forget the OG quiz, Countries of the World! And, you know, the quizzes that actually have an original SVG map…
I had this issue too. May I ask which Arlington? I assumed Arlington, VA because I live on the East Coast. Never would my mind have jumped to Arlington, TX if that's what it was.
Yeah, there are a few cities I was between states on (Gainesville, Florida or Georgia and Charleston, WV or SC) though ultimately those weren’t very hard to choose between. But I didn’t even know there was a Peoria, Arizona until I saw this comment. I thought it was a bug so I ended the quiz.
Ditto Peoria, Illinois not registering as a correct answer. Outside of a few JetPunkers and people in the Phoenix area probably nobody has heard of Peoria, Arizona.
Having cities like Peoria and Arlington which are both large cities in 2 different states is a bit confusing. Which one do you want? Illinois or Arizona? Virginia or Texas?
Love the quiz, but I was having some problems with functionality. Sometimes the pin wouldn't drop for some reason, until I moved it to a location that I knew was farther away from where it should be. 🤷♂️
Anything in southern Texas is hard to drop and pause before moving it into the U.S. I can't drag it in one swipe so have to stop and resume. When stopping with the point all the way at the bottom of the screen deep in Mexico it assumes that's where I want to put for example Brownsville and Laredo.
Same with Gainesville far east of Florida in the Atlantic Ocean.
I think I got the hang of it. I thought dropping it anywhere inside the U.S. would automatically register as an answer. Apparently I could swoop Laredo way up to Minnesota and be safe. It only registers within the broadest circle (as per the instructions).
Okay - so today was different. My pin placement would not be accepted until I got it close enough. Seemed to do that for every city. Weird. I still love the quiz concept though.
Good quiz. Only complaint is I was confused when Fayetteville didn't pin in Arkansas and I assumed there was an issue with the quiz. Did not know that there was a Fayetteville in NC until I opened the comments.
Can you add states for some of the cities with multiple options? Certainly, Fayetteville, AR is well-known enough that people would try to put it there. I know I did. I thought something was wrong with the quiz and gave up. Aurora is another one I saw with two viable states. (Illinois and Colorado.)
Great quiz, cheers. It doesn't work in Chrome on Windows 11, for some reason; I just see a white rectangle with no pin or city name. It's fine in Edge.
San Francisco is slightly in the ocean. This means that if you place in just a smidge to the east of its actual location- it’s in ‘close’ instead of ‘bullseye.’ Don’t expect you to change this awesome map but just letting it be known.
Got a 59/60 first try, just narrowly missed Fresno for the same reason as you. The cities chosen aren't that hard other than Amarillo and Fresno since there's usually ocean/state borders close by to help
Is it not working for me or am I stupid? I can put the pin of a city I don't know the location of anywhere on the map and nothing happens but then after a random amount of time the quiz is done without the whole timer being done. Am I doing something wrong?
The pin only activates when you’re within a hundred miles or so from the answer. That way you can put the pin down safely. Unfortunately, that also means you have to just randomly move the pin around until you get at least the outer ring if you don’t know where a city is.
So there's a Gainesville in Texas, Georgia, and Florida. The one I am most familiar with is in Georgia because I lived in Georgia. I'm sure for Texans it would be the one in Texas and for Floridians it would be the one in Florida. Not sure that one is exactly fair.

everyone knows Peoria IL so I suggest changing
Nommed!!!!!!!!!!
almost 140 noms, so close :D

Awesomely challenging quiz.

my first attempt I got a 57/60 thanks to Fresno being more north than I expected though
