How come this and #7 aren't in the "Name a Valid Country" series? One of my favourite quiz-types on the site :)

BTW 20 grams of fish isn't much for a whole country...

It is because the Name a Valid Country series is technically Quizmaster's, not ours, so we do not have the power to add 6 & 7

Common misconception. Recognition is not the same as no diplomatic relations. They recognise everyone but keep diplomatic relations with only handful of countries.

I don't think, definitionally, it counts as visiting if it's the country you live in. I can't visit my own house. And sure, a President based in Washington D.C. can visit Seattle, but you wouldn't say they are visiting the US when they do that.

Cyprus isn't recognized by all countries of the UN? First I've heard of it as a Cypriot person, think you meant the Republic of Northern Cyprus which is not recognized by any nation other than Turkey. Please update this.

Bhutan not recognising the majority of countries is a common misconception, they don't have diplomatic relations with most countries as they prefer to preserve their culture but they don't say they aren't countries, while Italy for example, as of 2026 specifically doesn't recognise the Palestinian State and specificallysaid they don't recognise it; North Korea claims all of South Korea and vice versa; every country except Türkiye sees the cypriot territory under Turkish control as part of the Republic of Cyprus not Northern Cyprus

Recognising and not having diplomatic relations are a slightly different thing

Actually, Germany was also visited at least 30 times by US President, since pre 1990 Federal Republic of Germany and present day Germany are the same country (via Wikipedia).

I am genuinely surprised that Spain's flag does not qualify for the 50% yellow question.
+2
Level 66
Mar 30, 2026
Most of Spains flag is red actually!

Without the coat of arms, the Spanish flag is perfectly divided (25% top red stripe, 50% yellow, 25% bottom red stripe)

The coat of arms overlaps parts of yellow, so it's less than 50%

+1
Level 78
Sep 13, 2024
The city is named after Caliph Ali Ibn Abi Talib who is a major figure in Islam. For comparison, there are 13 cities in the region named Muhammad (6 in Iraq alone). The name Hyderabad roughly translates into The Lion's (Haydar's) City (abad) in reference to Ali's prowess in battle.

For consistency's sake, Palestine should really be included as a country "that is not recognized by all 193 members of the United Nations." It's a UN observer state recognized by 147 member states, more than Kosovo (105) and comparable to Israel (164).

It's an ambiguous question in general -- as Vikaslyer earlier commented. If JetPunk would like to resolve this inconsistency while maintaining its own steadfast denial of Palestinian statehood, it could reword the question to be "a UN member state that is not recognized by all other UN member states."

This rewording would also exclude Kosovo and Taiwan, which aren't member states, but this quiz could at least make some claim to consistency.

I can't believe that "that has been visited by a U.S. president

at least 30 times" doesn't include the U.S. They must have visited some part of it at least 30 times.
