Malta island is not in the list because Malta (country) have 514000 inhabitants, 37000 of those in Gozo island.

Ah, interesting! Similar to Peloponnese in Greece and Delmarva in the US, Sodertorn is considered (by Wikipedia anyway) a peninsula and not an island.
